There are days when he feels close.
Not in distance, but in presence.
Days when the air around her feels warmer because he is somewhere inside it.
When his voice carries weight in her chest.
When the way he looks at her makes it feel as if the world has narrowed down to one simple truth.
She is seen.
She is wanted.
She is his.
There are moments when he is possessive in a way that feels almost sacred.
Like a hand at the back of her neck telling her to stay.
Like a claim spoken without words.
On those days it feels as if she is the only one he needs.
Only his.
But possession does not always stay steady.
There are other days when he does not mind if others look.
If others admire the parts of her he once claimed.
Days when the same body he guarded so closely seems less sacred in his eyes.
Possession, it seems, has its own rhythm.
Its own schedule.
And she lives somewhere inside that shifting space.
There are times when he cannot seem to get enough of her body.
As if every inch of her is something he wants to taste, touch, claim again and again.
Those are the moments that make her feel chosen.
But there are other days.
Days where her body feels reduced to the necessary places that quiet whatever hunger brought him there.
Some days it feels like he seeks quality.
A slow savoring.
An attention that lingers.
Other days it feels like he seeks quantity.
A need to be filled.
A need to be satisfied.
And she is simply where that need lands.
Strangers tell her she is beautiful.
They say gorgeous when she passes.
Compliments offered easily by people who know nothing about her.
But from him, those words never seem to come.
His compliments arrive differently.
Wrapped in hunger.
Reduced to the ways her body can satisfy him.
A curve he likes.
A place he wants.
A remark about what she does to him.
And over time she begins to wonder.
If every compliment turns her into something sexual
if every praise comes back to what her body can do for him
how is she supposed to believe it is anything more than sex?
But he becomes angry when she voices that this is all they are.
She knows he carries fantasies inside his head.
Scenes he imagines when the world is quiet and his mind wanders.
And she knows, deep down, that the women in those fantasies probably look different than she does.
Bodies that match the shape of the story playing in his mind.
Women who fit the scene the way it was meant to unfold.
She knows this without him ever saying it.
Because imagination is generous.
And real bodies are not always the ones it chooses.
She is a good girl.
She tries to be what he wants when he reaches for her.
But somewhere inside the quiet places of her mind
there is a small, persistent whisper that good
is not always the same thing as good enough.
And then there are the shifts.
Days where something changes in the space between them.
Where the warmth fades and the air goes still.
The messages are shorter.
The silence stretches longer.
The connection that once wrapped around her loosens.
As if he came, took what he needed,
and stepped back into a life where she does not exist.
On those days she wonders if she is simply a place he visits.
A door he opens when he wants something.
A room he leaves without looking back.
Every time she opens herself up to trust
every time she allows herself to relax into the idea that she can simply be herself with him
something shifts.
Something that makes her suddenly aware of her own hope.
Self conscious for believing it might be more than what it is.
When she senses that shift and tries to pull back
tries to correct herself
tries to understand the lines she cannot see
So she continues to live in that space between certainty and doubt.
Between warmth and distance.
Between belonging and absence.
Not quite held.
Not quite released.
Just existing there.
In the soft ache of ambiguity.
