Invisible things do not arrive all at once.
They disappear slowly.
In fractions.
In learned silences.
In the space between reaching out and deciding not to.
She became one quietly.
Not in the dramatic ways people imagine.
Not through abandonment loud enough to echo.
But through small omissions that accumulated like dust.
The unanswered glance.
The softened voice reserved for someone else.
The realization that tenderness could exist openly, just never in her direction.
Invisible things learn quickly.
They learn how to stand still in crowded rooms.
How to swallow recognition before it reaches the face.
How to watch someone they ache for walk past them without interruption.
Without pause.
Without even the flicker of being noticed.
And still, they remain gentle.
That is the tragedy of it.
Even unseen things continue loving the light.
Continue turning toward warmth.
Continue hoping that one day someone will look directly at them and say,
“There you are.”
As if they had not been standing there the entire time.
