Too rough for the connoisseurs.
Too sharp.
Too much bite
where smoothness was expected.
The connoisseurs swirl crystal glasses,
speaking in notes of oak,
char,
and vanilla,
as though refinement
is the only measure
of something worth keeping.
Whiskey never argues.
It simply waits,
amber and patient,
knowing every bottle
is eventually opened
by someone.
Some call it harsh
because it burns.
Others understand
that warmth
has always arrived
disguised as fire.
Every shelf has critics.
Every pour has opinions.
Every label
carries expectations
written by hands
that never intended
to drink.
Still,
somewhere,
someone is searching
for exactly this bottle.
Not because it is rare.
Not because it is perfect.
But because
it is honest.
And while the experts continue
debating proof,
finish,
and pedigree,
someone else
will lift the glass,
welcome the burn,
and drink
every last drop.
