Rising From Beneath the Weight

There are times I look back and hardly recognize the person I used to be. Not just in the way my body has changed, though that part of my journey is real and visible. But in the way I carried myself, the way I let the world and all its garbage bury me. For years I walked around under the weight of other people’s expectations, disappointments, judgments, and sometimes even my own. I believed I had to shrink myself just to survive, and somewhere in all of that, I got lost.

But I’m not lost anymore. Slowly, steadily, I’ve been digging myself out from underneath the heaviness. Losing weight hasn’t just been about numbers on a scale—it’s been about releasing years of hurt, releasing shame that was never mine to hold, and releasing the lies I believed about my worth. Every step, every choice, every small victory has been like unearthing pieces of me I thought were gone forever.

This glow up isn’t just physical. It’s emotional, spiritual, and deeply personal. I see myself differently now. My reflection holds strength instead of doubt, resilience instead of fear. There’s still more work to do—there always will be—but for the first time, I welcome it. I no longer dread the climb, because I’ve learned the climb is where I find myself.

And maybe that’s the most important part of all. I’m not becoming someone new—I’m uncovering who I was always meant to be. The woman underneath all the layers of pain, the one with fire in her spirit and softness in her heart. She was buried, but she was never gone. And now, piece by piece, I’m bringing her back to life.
